Our Purpose:
Lochaber Care & Repair offers a service to older people, aged 65 or over and to people of any age who have a disability and is a home owner, crofter or is living in privately rented accommodation. We will provide help, advice & support to enable you to carry out adaptations, improvements or repairs to your home. Our Care & Repair staff have been vetted by Disclosure Scotland & will show you their identification badge when they knock on your door.
How we can help:
We will visit you in your home and help you decide on necessary repairs & improvements. We can offer advice & assistance or act on your behalf by:
- Organising surveys and drawings
- Helping you to find suitable Contractors & obtaining prices for the work
- Applying for grants towards the cost of the work & helping you complete the paperwork
- Organising the works & providing you with advice & support throughout the works
- Directing you to other sources of help, if needed
What can we do for you?
Major Adaptations
Care & Repair can help with adaptations to your home to suit your needs:
- Works to improve safety and access inside or outside the building
- Works to improve personal care or health needs
Your needs will be assessed by Health and Social Care staff and their recommendations will form the basis of the package of works we can offer to you.
Repairs and Improvements
Care and Repair can advise and assist with the repair or improvement of your home.
- Structural instability
- Dampness
- Rot/structural infestation
- Defective electrical supply
- Lack of thermal insulation
- Inadequate foul/surface drainage
- Inadequate water supply
- Lack of toilet/basin, bath/shower
- Inadequate light/ventilation
Your property will be assessed by a Grants Officer from the Highland Council and their recommendations will form the basis of the package of works we can offer you.
